FAQ
What do you buy?
We specialize in buying gold items from the public, and will also consider silver and platinum. We buy almost everything — gold and silver jewellery (including broken or damaged pieces), coins, bullion bars, dental gold, watches, and scrap metal. If you're unsure whether we'd be interested, just get in touch and we'll let you know.
Does my jewellery need to be hallmarked?
No. While hallmarks help confirm purity quickly, our Goldsmith has over 30 years of experience and can verify the carat and authenticity of items without a hallmark using professional testing equipment.
How do you work out what my gold is worth?
Our expert Goldsmith tests every item individually in front of you for purity using professional methods including hallmark identification, acid testing, and XRF analysis. We then weigh it precisely and apply the current live spot price, so your offer is always accurate and up to date.
What if my jewellery is broken or damaged?
That's absolutely fine — scrap gold has the same melt value regardless of its condition. Broken chains, single earrings, bent rings, and damaged pieces are all welcome.
Where are you located?
How and when do I get paid?
Do I have to accept the offer you give me?
Appointments are in high quality serviced offices in Bury & Burnley. The address will be confirmed when the appointment is scheduled. This is for both your and our security.
Once you accept our offer, payment is made immediately — either by instant bank transfer or cash for smaller amounts. You won't leave the appointment waiting for a cheque in the post.
Never. There is absolutely no obligation to sell. If you're not happy with the offer, you're free to take your items home with no pressure, no fee, and no hard feelings.
How is this different from using a postal gold buyer?
With postal services, your valuables leave your hands and travel to a warehouse before you're told what they're worth. There is a risk of your items being lost in the post. With us, everything is assessed in person, right in front of you, and you agree a price before anything changes hands.
What ID do I need to bring? And why?
How long are appointments?
I've inherited some jewellery and I'm not sure what it's worth — can you help?
I've been quoted a price online — will you match it?
For regulatory and anti-money laundering compliance, we ask all customers to bring a valid photo ID (such as a passport or driving licence) and proof of address. This protects both you and us and is a legal requirement for precious metals transactions.
Most appointments take between 20 and 45 minutes depending on the number of items you bring. We never rush the process — every piece deserves proper assessment, and we want you to feel completely comfortable before making any decision.
Absolutely. Inherited collections are something we handle with great care and sensitivity. Our Goldsmith will assess each item individually, explain exactly what you have, and give you a clear and honest valuation with no pressure to sell anything you're not ready to part with.
Online valuations are often estimates based on assumed purity and weight, and the final offer from postal buyers frequently comes in lower once they've assessed the item themselves. We encourage you to bring any quotes you've received — in our experience, our in-person expert assessment regularly meets or beats them.
What safety & security measures do you have?
We do not publicly disclose where are offices are and address is confirmed when the appointment is scheduled. For appointments you have free access to on-site private secure parking. The offices have 24/7 security systems including CCTV.
